WHO WE ARE.
I have spent my life in academia and have notched up four degrees. My final one was a PhD in informational privacy research from TCD (Trinity College Dublin). I have published academic papers and book chapters in IS (Information Systems) security and was Head of Research at Escher Group Holdings for five years. I taught IS and Management for eight years in TCD and for three years in UCD (University College Dublin). I have always loved books and the printed word. In fact, my first degree is in English and French Literature.
Over the last few years, I have broadened my interest in emotional intelligence and living life in the best way I can. I worked with and then a while later became good friends with Geraldine and since then my interest in Life Coaching has grown to such an extent that I am undertaking an MSc course in Life and Management Coaching in UCC. I will finish my studies in 2023.
I came to the conclusion early in my life that the best way to learn is to talk and discuss the subjects I am learning about with knowledgeable people. What better way to do this than to talk to a qualified and experienced coach? Also, while we’re talking, why not share our insights with the world? Hence, our podcast Normal Conversations was born.
Over the last decade, Geraldine has worked with many groups and individuals throughout the Limerick area and beyond over. She is passionate about helping others to reach their full potential and overcoming challenges that may prevent them from realising their goals. As a 30 something year old, she returned to study and found her way in completely changing her life, whilst meeting obstacles head on! She knows only too well how easily we can be thrown off course. ‘As I have navigated my way through life, I have experienced pitfalls, challenges and successes. If I could even have known a little of what I know now, life might have been a little easier. And yet, this was the course of my life and I use my experiences to help others to be the best version of themselves’. She is a qualified life coach and during the pandemic, returned to study in U.C.C., completing a HDip in Coaching and Coaching Psychology. She has a very honest approach to her work. She focuses on a ‘Positively Realistic’ attitude to life and this means that the people with whom she works, are very comfortable and at ease in her presence. She is supportive, engaging and dedicated to bringing out the best in people, even if they can’t see it themselves. Fun and laughter are a big part of her life and work and she loves to see people’s growth and development as they progress through life.
